The Clone Wars Returns with its 2nd Season!

Unlike many of my die hard SW geek fans, I for one really enjoyed season one of The Clone Wars, and I also enjoyed the movie. Now, I won't say that I didn't have small quibbles here and there with some of the plot devices, but overall just the chance to watch new Star Wars dramas unfold on a weekly basis was enough quell any of the dark side tendencies.

And now we have a whole new season with which to look forward. Cad Bane looks to be a formidable opponent and I'm very much looking forward to the Jedi and clones matching wits with him. I would like to know if the the name Bane was borrowed from the legendary Darth bearing the same appellation. I haven't researched that yet, but maybe someone can tell me.

One argument that I share with one of the members of the SWAction forums, is that when the holocron had fallen out of Bane's hand and was lying equidistant between him and Anakin, why didn't Anakin just use a force pull and grab it. Rather, he fumbles and tries to crawl to it, letting Cad get there first.

What gives with that?

But anyway, I look forward to watching this weekly once again!

Live Action Star Wars Show: Casting Underway!!!!

This is hot!!! MTV News is reporting that casting for the long awaited live-action TV series based in the Star Wars universe is underway. This could be very huge for Lucas. It could either re-vitalize his empire or bring it slowly crashing to the ground.

What do you think?

Karpyshyn to Write for The Old Republic!

This just in: Drew Karpyshyn, author of the incredible Darth Bane novels, and lead writer for the classic RPG Knights of the Old Republic, has moved to Texas to write for the upcoming BioWare release, The Old Republic. This is truly incredible news. When I first heard of BioWare's intention to include a strong story element into this release, I thought that surely they would bring Karpyshyn back to help out in this respect.

I'm am very pleased to see that they have acceded to my unspoken request. ;)

Connections #1

So are there any connection to speak of between the works of the inimitable Edgar Allan Poe and the visionary George Lucus? Well, most people would probably say "No". But I think most people would be overlooking some things. Most people don't know that Poe is credited as one of the first science-fiction writers. I will supply more references later, but one such story was "The Balloon Hoax", in which Poe talks of taking a balloon into space. No, there was no death star in it, but still.

So, the first, albeit tenuous connection, is the simple fact that Poe, being one of the forebears of Sci-Fi, was also Lucas' predecessor at his craft.

Stay Tuned!
